Athena Liu is a literary darling. Juniper Hayward is literally nobody. When Athena dies in a freak accident, Juniper steals her unpublished manuscript and publishes it as her own under the ambiguous name June Song. But as evidence threatens Juniper's stolen success, she will discover exactly how far she will go to keep what she thinks she deserves. What happens next is entirely everyone else's fault.

June Haywood,  a white woman, steals an unfinished manuscript about the WW1 Chinese labour corps and publishes it as her own. But backlash ensues and the success she's dreamed of is being taken away from her. Kuang is a fantastic writer. This un-putdown-able story is an interesting insight into the publishing industry, its flaws, and brilliantly tackles a current issue in the publishing world of who can tell what story.
