June Haywood,  a white woman, steals an unfinished manuscript about the WW1 Chinese labour corps and publishes it as her own. But backlash ensues and the success she's dreamed of is being taken away from her. Kuang is a fantastic writer. This un-putdown-able story is an interesting insight into the publishing industry, its flaws, and brilliantly tackles a current issue in the publishing world of who can tell what story.
